Program Description: The program prepares master's level teachers who are also able to assume positions of leadership in the field. The program consists of a professional component, a special education core, and a concentration in behavioral disorders, learning disabilities, mental retardation, or severe/profound disabilities.

The M.A.Ed. concentrations are: Behavioral Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Mental Retardation, and Severe/Profound Disabilities.

The M.A.T. concentrations are: Behavioral Disorders, Learning and Mental Disabilities, and Severe/Profound Disabilities.

Required Standardized Test: GRE General Exam

Minimum Admissions Requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework and acceptable GRE scores.

Additional Admissions Criteria: Three letters of recommendation. Bachelor's level licensure special education required for the M.A.Ed. A bachelor's degree in another area is required for the M.A.T.

Prerequisites: The M.A.T. has five prerequisite courses in special education. These courses may be taken concurrently with the master's level courses.
