Acrobat Reader Downloading Instructions

** Please print out these instructions so you can follow them as you download the software.**

  • If you have never downloaded before you will need to set up a location to place your downloads. Using your file manager, make a folder named Downloads.
  • From the Hunter Library Home Page, click on Course Reserves.
  • In the center of the page, under Problems? You must click on the type of operating system you use: Windows or Macs. This will take you to WCU's Information & Resources computer center PC Software Download Page.
  • Scroll down to Helper Apps -- Acrobat Reader 5 and click on 32Bit. See picture below.

  • A Save As dialog box will appear. Select the "Download" folder you created.
  • Save the file with its own name (Ar50eng.exe) in the "Downloads" folder (if you did not make a Download folder, pay attention to the location you are saving the file to).
  • After it has finished downloading, close the browser and use your file manager to go to the folder in which you saved the file.
  • Double Click on the file, it will look something like this: Acrobat Reader logo
  • Follow the directions and answer the questions on the screen to install the Acrobat Reader.You may have to restart your computer after the program has been installed before it will function correctly. More importantly, you must shut down the browser, as you should have if you followed the directions above, before the new software can take effect.
