Complete the CatWalk. Before starting your first term at WCU, you'll receive a letter with a username and password for the CatWalk website. This site helps you do everything from registering for orientation to choosing a major and selecting classes. Completing the CatWalk will also provide your academic advisor with the information necessary to create your first semester course schedule, which you will receive at orientation. If you've received your letter, you can log into CatWalk here.

Submit your tuition deposit to Student Accounts. WCU has extended the tuition deposit deadline to August 1, 2008. read more about the deadline extension

Complete and return the immunization form. You may contact the University Health Center at 828-227-7640 if you have questions or visit their website. This should be complete prior to your orientation session.
Register for an Orientation session. Reserve your spot by completing the "Register for Orientation" step on the CatWalk. Through the CatWalk you can register and pay online.

Waive your student health insurance if you have other health insurance coverage. You can waive your mandatory student health insurance if you are covered by another insurance provider. Waivers can be completed online at http://www.studentinsurance.com/. After entering the site, choose Western Carolina University in the drop down box in the upper left hand corner. Click on “Waive Online” and “Waive” again. Then complete the form with the student information and waiver policy information.
Complete Your Release of Information form. Before any WCU employee can discuss most specific issues pertaining to a student's records with third parties, we must have consent from the student. University personnel must also be able to verify a student's identity before discussing the student's academic records by telephone. Once you have made your tuition deposit, you can log in to complete the Release of Information form here.
Apply for Financial Aid. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include the WCU code number: 002981. Once your FAFSA has been processed, Western's Financial Aid Office will contact you. However, if you have questions you can contact the Financial Aid Office by phone at 828-227-7334.
Return your housing contract with your $150 deposit. Look for your notice of housing assignment in the mail in July. If you have questions, you can contact the department of Residential Living by phone at 828-227-7303 or visit their website.
Send us a recent digital photo of yourself (head-and-shoulder shot) so we can make your Western identification card (CatCard). Please send your name, student identification number, and date of birth with the photo. Please email your digital photo to mailto:catcard@email.wcu.edu. Have final copies of official high school and transfer work sent to the Admission Office. Since admission decisions are based on successful completion of all high school and college coursework in progress at time of acceptance, this step is absolutely required. Transcripts should be sent in sealed envelopes directly from the institution where the credit was earned and can be mailed to:
